About
Covered Ground is a landscape design studio based on Awabakal land, Newcastle, NSW. We believe that great design seamlessly integrates aesthetics and functionality, enhancing your daily life by making it more intuitive, enjoyable, and efficient.
Our landscape designs are formed by first carefully exploring the unique characteristics of your space and forming an understanding of your specific desires and needs. Your concept is then carefully crafted with equal attention to both hardscaping and the plants that will bring your vision to life, helping you to create an outdoor space that is an integral part of your home.
Covered ground is lead by Clare Gleeson, Clare holds a Bachelor of Communication (Design) (Hons) and has 20 years of experience in design and project management. She retrained as a landscape designer at the London College of Garden Design Australia, graduating with Distinction in 2025.
In 2025, her Melbourne International Flower Show Border Garden was featured in Gardening Australia magazine.

The planting plan is designed in accordance with your moodbard and specific environmental factors. It identifies exactly which plants will bring your vision to life.
Plant Procurement and Set Out
Also known as the fun bit. Once your plans are in place we can help you source all your plants form premium wholesale Nurseries and set them out on site ready to bring your garden to life..
I’m available for site visits in the areas of Newcastle, Port Stephens, The Central Coast and The Hunter Valley and available via Zoom for all other areas.
